You are one of 12 million children in Africa that have lost a parent to AIDS. You have lost your mother at the age of 7. Imagine you live in South Africa. You, like the majority of your friends, live in a tiny 10’x10’ shack. Your family lives on an income of about $100 a month. Your father is unemployed and deathly ill, as he too has fallen victim to the HIV virus. There is no one to support you. There is no one to help you with school work. There is no one to feed you. Your situation is not unique. You, just like your friends and siblings, only have a 50% chance to even survive till your 30th birthday. As you lay down to sleep on a dirt floor, you are starving.
